WHAT IS GOING?

Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) is a travel membership that specializes in finding and sending the best flight deals directly to your inbox. No more scouring the web for ways to save money on flights. So you can close out all of those tabs and leave it to the flight experts at Going.

The membership is absolutely legit. They’ve been pushing out the flight deals since around 2013 and serve over 2 million travelers. Members (including myself) save an average of $200 on domestic flights and $550 on international flights.

As a member, I’ve been able to save money on flights from the United States to destinations like Tokyo ($450), Paris ($400), and Lisbon ($350) with minimal effort.

HOW DOES GOING WORK?

Getting started with Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) is easy. Once you’ve signed up for a membership, you will be prompted to select your preferred US departure airport(s). I recommend you add your closest airport and any major airports nearby.

Next, you’ll just need to keep an eye on your inbox. As soon as the Going team finds an amazing deal at one of your airports, you’ll see it come through to your inbox.

So, you might be thinking, what constitutes an amazing deal?

Well the flight experts at Going are not going to take up space in your inbox unless it’s an exceptional find. Their team considers the price, the airline, and the route, among other things. Because no one wants a super long layover on a questionable airline just to save $100 on a flight.

Once you see that amazing deal come through, just click the link provided in the email to jump to the sample search results on Google Flights. From there, you can modify the search to fit your needs and book directly with the airline.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING GOING?

Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) offers its members a ton of benefits, which makes the membership definitely worth the small investment. Here are a few of the major benefits:

Cheap Flights. As I mentioned above, members save an average of $200 on domestic flights and $550 on international flights. Depending on your membership level, you may also get access to “mistake fares.” (A “mistake fare” is when an airline accidentally discounts a flight by more than they meant to—which can result in huge savings.)

Affordable Pricing. Going offers three different membership levels, with pricing that ranges from free to around $199 per year. If you use your membership to book at least one flight deal per year, your membership will likely pay for itself.

Easy to Use. The membership requires little to no effort on your part. Members just have to keep an eye on their inbox and book the flight. You’ll definitely save yourself some time and be on your way with minimal hassle.

While most travelers will find tremendous value in a Going membership, I would not recommend a paid membership for infrequent travelers and/or those searching for a deal for a specific trip (i.e., to X destination on X date).

HOW MUCH DOES GOING COST?

As I mentioned above, Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) has three different membership levels, which all come in at different price points. Keep reading for an inside look at what’s included at each membership level.

Limited. The Limited membership level is free—like, forever. The deals are, as the name implies, limited. You get access to some international, economy flight deals and the deals are often sent to your inbox on a delayed basis (typically, one or two days later).

Premium. The Premium membership level is $49 per year. You get access to international and domestic, economy flight deals and the deals are sent to your inbox ASAP. You also get access to any “mistake fares” from your airports.

Elite. The Elite membership level is $199 per year. At this level, you get everything included at the Premium level plus deals for premium economy, business class, and first class. You also get access to “mistake fares” from all U.S. airports and alerts for deals using points and miles.

I recommend everyone start at the free, Limited membership level. This option will allow you to get a taste of what Going has to offer before committing to a paid membership. You can sign up for the free, Limited membership here.

WHICH GOING MEMBERSHIP IS BEST?

Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) has a membership level for everyone. The right membership level for you will depend on how frequently you travel, the class of ticket you prefer, and whether you typically travel domestically or internationally.

If you travel internationally around once a year, the free, Limited membership is likely your best option. For those who travel more regularly (either domestically and/or internationally), I recommend the Premium membership. Lastly, if you’re looking to save money on seats in premium economy or higher, the Elite membership is your best bet.

I have the Elite membership ($199 per year) and have never questioned whether it is a worthwhile investment. However, the free, Limited membership is the perfect place to start.

HOW CAN I JOIN GOING?

You can sign up for all membership levels at the Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) website. If you would prefer to start with a free membership, you can do so by clicking on the button below.
